Jung Seok-jun, son of Jung Tae-young, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Card—a major South Korean credit card and fintech company, and nephew of Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, has launched a golf fashion and media startup in the U.S.
According to business filings, Jung established Antipodes Golf LLC in December 2023 in California, where he serves as CEO with a 50% ownership stake.
The remaining shares are partially held by his wife, Lydia Ko, a professional golfer and former world No. 1. The company name “Antipodes” commonly refers to Australia and New Zealand, with the latter being Ko’s home country.
This venture blends golf apparel and lifestyle content, targeting the fast-growing global golf market. Industry insiders say Jung aims to capitalize on his wife’s international recognition and his own experience in innovation-driven business to shape a unique brand.
Jung previously worked at Hyundai Cradle, the Silicon Valley innovation hub of Hyundai Motor Group, and later served as senior business development manager at the San Francisco-based startup Amber.
Despite his family ties to Hyundai Motor Group, which is chaired by his uncle Chung Eui-sun, Jung has never held an executive role within the conglomerate.
Antipodes Golf has launched an Instagram presence, featuring branded merchandise and course content.
Jung also shared video of his participation in the pro-am at the Genesis Invitational in February—a PGA Tour event sponsored by Hyundai Motor Group.
Observers expect Jung to play a greater role in golf-related branding and media efforts tied to Hyundai’s global sponsorship portfolio.
